graduated in biochemistry from the University of Tübingen, focusing on pharmaceutical chemistry and protein biochemistry. During his studies he also conducted research at the Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology in Tübingen as well as Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, USA, in the area of structural biology.
Mr. Ridderbusch joined VOSSIUS & PARTNER in 2008 and was admitted to practice in 2012 as a German Patent Attorney (Patentanwalt), European Patent Attorney and European Trademark & Design Attorney. He was named a partner in the firm in 2017. Mr. Ridderbusch practices all areas of patent prosecution from initial drafting and prosecution to contentious post-grant proceedings including opposition, revocation and infringement actions, and has extensive experience in this respect before the European Patent Office, the German Patent and Trademark Office, and the German Courts. His practice also includes the strategic management of patent portfolios, the filing of supplementary protection certificates (SPCs), as well as the preparation of freedom-to-operate and validity opinions.
Oswin Ridderbusch is an editor and author of the handbook "European SPCs Unravelled: A Practitioner's Guide to Supplementary Protection Certificates in Europe" published by Wolters Kluwer in 2018, and he regularly writes about SPC topics on the Kluwer Patent Blog. He is also an active member of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) and engages in AIPPI's standing committee on the Unitary Patent and the Unified Patent Court.
