Dr. Johannes Pröpster

studied biology at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg with emphasis on structural biology, biochemistry, pharmaceutical biology and molecular plant physiology, and graduated with a diploma thesis on the structure/function analysis of a human DNA-binding autoantibody. He obtained his doctorate in molecular biology & biophysics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) in the field of structural glyco-immunology, exploring the structural and (thermo-)dynamical determinants of protein-glycan interactions using solution-NMR. His dissertation revealed the 3D structure of the ligand-binding domain of the human immune-inhibitory receptor Siglec-8 in complex with its cognate tetrasaccharide glycan ligand (published in PNAS 2016), providing a rational for receptor-ligand specificity and guidance for design of glycomimetic drugs in new strategies to downmodulate inflammatory immune responses in disease.

Dr. Johannes Pröpster joined Vossius & Partner at their Munich office in 2017 and is currently training to become a European Patent Attorney.
