Dr. Alexander Schwendemann
born in Lahr/Schwarzwald, studied biology at the Universities of Konstanz and Guelph/Canada with main emphasis on cell biology, immunology, biochemistry, microbiology and developmental biology. In the following, he started experimental research for his doctoral thesis at the Institute for Developmental Biology/FU Berlin and identified and characterized several genes playing a role in the epigenetic control of Drosophila development. After finishing his PhD thesis, he worked as a scientific collaborator at the same institute and focussed on characterizing chromatin remodelling proteins involved in transcriptional control. From 2006 to 2008, he was appointed to represent the Institute for Developmental Biology/FU Berlin and to assume the duties of the vacant chair.
Dr. Schwendemann joined Vossius & Partner in 2008. He was admitted to practice as a European Patent Attorney in 2012 and as a German Patent Attorney in 2017. Dr. Schwendemann works in the Munich and Berlin offices of Vossius & Partner. Dr. Schwendemann is involved in developing IP filing strategies and has extensive experience in pre-grant proceedings including preparation, filing and prosecution of patent applications as well as in post-grant proceedings (opposition and appeal proceedings) before the EPO. Dr. Schwendemann also teaches at CEIPI of the Université de Strasbourg, France.
