Dr. sc. ETH Tilmann Künzl

Dr. Tilmann Künzl studied microbiology and biochemistry at the University of Goettingen. He completed his Master’s thesis at the Institute of Microbiology and Genetics, where he studied the regulatory effects of small RNAs on gene expression. Dr. Künzl received his PhD from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) in the field of synthetic biology. For his dissertation, he developed novel strategies to achieve cellular uptake of small molecules for biotechnological applications at the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering. This work has been published in peer-reviewed journals and was nominated for the ETH Medal for outstanding doctoral theses. In addition, he gained experience in the biotech industry at DSM Nutritional Products in Kaiseraugst, Switzerland.

Dr. Künzl has profound knowledge in various aspects of molecular biology, microbiology, biotechnology and biochemistry. He joined the Basel office of Vossius & Partner in 2018 and is currently training to become a European and Swiss patent attorney.
