was born in Würzburg and studied biology at the University of Greifswald and at the University of Kiel. She became a certified biologist in the field of molecular biology, biochemistry and microbiology. Afterwards she did her doctorate at the University Medical Center of Würzburg, the Institute of Microbiology of the University of Würzburg and the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Research in Bad Nauheim. The main focus of her dissertation was cancer therapy. In this context she analyzed the regulation of apoptosis as well as the manipulation of signal transduction pathways for the induction of cell death in tumor cells. In 2011, Dr. Polzien joined Vossius & Partner at their Munich office.
Dr. Polzien was admitted to practice as a European Patent Attorney in 2016. She is experienced in pre-grant proceedings including counseling of inventors, writing and prosecuting patent applications as well as developing filing strategies and performing freedom-to-operate analyses. Dr. Polzien is also experienced in patent litigation including writing of and responding to opposition and appeal briefs. Her scientific expertise is mainly in the field of biologicals and pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, immunology, genetics, cosmetics and plant physiology.
