Our Office in Basel, Switzerland
In February 2006 we founded our office in Basel. By choosing Basel as the location of the office, Vossius & Partner has also established itself where the boundaries of France, Germany and Switzerland meet.
The area of Basel is characterized by dynamic economic growth and has become one of the leading centers in the fields of pharmacy, chemistry, biotechnology and medicinal technology. Starting from the chemical pharmaceutical industry established there for a long time, Basel has become one of the most important locations of the pharmaceutical and biotechnological industries worldwide. Commerce, transportation and science executives traditionally regard Basel as the main gate to Switzerland and hence Basel is the ideal location for our Basel office.
With the establishment of our office in Basel, at the meeting point of Germany, France and Switzerland, we have expanded our services and are thus in a position to offer firms and persons located in this region and active in any technological field, direct and competent help within a close geographical vicinity in the fields of patent law as well as trademark, design and competition law. This also includes the new aspect of plant variety protection and the issues associated therewith. A main focus is on the support of start-up companies in patent matters, especially in the pharmaceutical area.
The services of the Basel office also include the validation of European Patents in Switzerland, and generally cover the representation of clients before the European Patent Office and the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property.
The head of the Basel office is Dr. Werner Bastian, an experienced patent attorney admitted to represent before the Swiss and European Patent Offices. Dr. Bastian can look back on 20 years of experience in the Patent Department of a leading Swiss company where he used to be in charge of biotechnology and plant culturing.
